Abstract

This study examines counseling guidance approach as an effective strategy to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates at Bitung Correctional Facility (LP). LP is often perceived solely as a place of physical confinement; however, the counseling approach proves itself as a crucial bridge towards recovery and new opportunities for inmates. The research highlights the importance of strong counselor-inmate relationships in fostering self-understanding, emotional management, and enhancing social skills. Amid challenges such as social stigma and resource limitations, counseling guidance serves not only as a tool to reduce recidivism but also as a means to improve inmates’ quality of life during incarceration. With a focus on holistic rehabilitation, these programs aim not only to transform individuals but also to offer hope for a better future beyond the prison environment.
